A Bowlful of Cherries

Celebrating Matty and Noah

Archive for September 2008

We like to craft.

To keep us both from passing out of boredom, I break out the paper/glue/scissors.
This day, we made a birdhouse picture, because Matty has been particularly interested in them lately.
I drew a template guide for him and cut the rectangles, triangles, and circles we used in order to “build” the house.
He followed along nicely and thoroughly enjoyed the squeezing of the glue.
And the stamping part too!

We didn’t actually do any fingerprinting, despite this evidence to the contrary:

And the final product:

The “i” in birdhouse is laying down, but I think that’s my favorite part.
The stars Matty stamped into the sky too, so very sweet.
It’s going to be hung up in my workspace.
I can’t wait for the next masterpiece!

Did you know?

That Noah jumps on the trampoline like his big brother?
True facts.

Noah gets hand-me-downs.

But I try and make them “new” for him.
Case in point, Matty’s old high-chair.
Still is perfect condition, but still sporting that hideous beige cushion.

(Holy goodness, how cute is wee Matty?!)

I wanted to add a splash of awesome, so I picked some red decorator fabric. With dots!
And here’s the new cover:

I say Noah approves!

(Of note: The tee shirt and pants Noey is wearing? Hand-me-downs!)

Matty and his guitar.

Lately, he’s been requiring himself (and others!) to don the orange hardhat in order to strum away.
And he wears it down real low on his eyes. Cracks me up every time.

August flew by!

But it was a great month indeed.
Noah is close to walking, Matty is talking more than ever, and we had an awesome visit with Aunt Gina.
Her first night here, we took Matty to the outdoor part of the Arlington County Fair.
And he loved it!
His favorite, by far, was the super slide.

Noah had a good time just watching all the action.

Oh and there was funnel cake?
(I thought I had a picture of the cake, but I probably ate it.)

Gina’s visit went way too fast and no sooner did we drop her back off at the airport did we start missing her like mad.
But before she went, she made Matty some AWESOME newspaper hats.

And we got to take some nice pictures over at Gravelly Point.

Matty still points to the door and asks for “aunt eena”!
Come back soon!
